What we study

The group’s work falls into three main lines of research:

Visual practices and mathematics education

Investigation and problematization of visual practices through the plastic and graphic arts, considering images as the medium and the process of visual discourses in which mathematics is an effect and an agent in the construction of visualities.

Sociocultural practices, history and mathematics

Investigation and problematization of sociocultural practices, in order to understand possible mathematical practices and/or historically constituted school educational practices.

Mathematical practices and narratives about teaching and learning

Investigations and problematization of the production and constitution of narratives about mathematics and teaching-learning, in order to propose educational practices and/or intervene in classroom scenes, making it possible to understand the construction of the regimens of knowledge and power crossed by such narratives.
